"Stärka" is the Swedish word for strengthening

I am an artist and body worker who was born and raised in a small village in Sweden. My husband calls me a "hillbilly". I left the village, went working, traveling and going to college. I was back packing in Asia and studied art in Paris.

My husband's work brought us to Seattle in 2001. We love it here - people's mindset feels like Europe.

Aches and pains

I decided to become a Massage Therapist based on personal experience. When I couldn't stay active the way I wanted because of pain and injuries I wanted to find out why. Cortisone shots and braces were clearly not the whole answer. Along my path to healing I picked up knowledge from many great body workers. I realized that I might be able to help others. I enrolled in the The Northwest Academy for the Healing Arts in Seattle to become a Massage Therapist with focus on medical massage and graduated in 2012.

Art as inpiration

Studying art is a way to understand the beauty of a body in balance. In a piece of great art you will find the "right" lines and points that create a balanced "whole". I have spent many years painting and doing life drawing, Today my art and my bodywork are feeding each other.

“Using no way as a way,

having no limitation as limitation.”

Bruce Lee, Tao of Jeet Kune Do

QiGong, Martial Arts and Yoga

In my bodywork I have been heavily influenced by QiGong which I have studied with Dr. Guang-Cheng Sun at Bastyr University. I love doing yoga and have  tried different styles of Chinese martial arts.

I also find inspiration in Western bodywork, such as in the work by Thomas Myers. He is making many interesting connections between myofascial lines. art and meridians in his book "Anatomy Trains".
